Tower Falls and Mammoth Hot Springs

The light was beginning to fade as we reached Mammoth springs but this was our last stop and there was still enough light to walk round and read the guide. Then it was a long drive back to West Yellowstone and another night when we drove out of the park at nearly ten o'clock. The mosquito repellent has been renewed tonight and seems to be working thank goodness.

After out visit to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone we drove north across the Dunraven Pass beside Mount Washburn to visit Tower Falls. The sun was just beginning to set when Alistair asked me to take a photo of an interesting rock formation. Before I could take the photo drifts of smoke began to move across the scene. Evidently these were from a forest fire some distance away. We had seen lot of areas in both Yellowstone Park and Glacier Park where there had been fires but this was our first brush with the real thing.
