Marisa has a trip to the Seaside
Today it dawned bright and sunny and as we had had Marisa for a sleepover we decided to go to West Kirby on the Wirral for the day. We found some sand toys we had bought for Bella in Paris and never used, packed a car up and told Marisa we were going to see lots of sand and lots of water at the seaside where she could do digging and splashing.
"But Grandpa where is the water?"
The tide was out when we arrived so there was a large expanse of sand. We duly settled down with all the other grandparents and Alistair instructed Marisa in the finer points of building sandcastles.
Then Nanna took over when Grandpa went for a choc ice which naturally had to be shared. By this time Marisa had discovered that knocking sand castles down was as much fun as making them as you could say "Oh dear!" every time one collapsed.
We waited for high tide to do the splashing part of the trip but the it must have the lowest high tide of the month. So as the water showed no signs of coming closer it was time for a windy walk round the Marine Lake and a coffee stop in some shade.
As you can see the prospect of a drink of water did not please madam.
Surely she couldn't read the sign on the window?
When we got back home Marisa dashed out with her bucket and spade and tried to dig the lawn and then garden soil but without the results she was obviously hoping for. She had enjoyed her seaside visit (paddling will have to wait for another visit). She certainly appreciated the wide open expanse of beach where she could run free and not have a grown up curbing her freedom to roam. Grandpa and Nanna were keeping a close watch to see how far she was prepared to go on her own..........a long way it must be noted.
