Dumped after 28 years

Finally the hall/dining room carpet has been replaced although it had still not actually worn out!  I bought it with the house and it is the last carpet to go.  It dominated any photos where it managed to feature.  Those of you who have seen will not have forgotten it but I include a photo of before and after.  Actually we took the opportunity to have the floor skimmed and levelled before the new carpet was fitted. Now we are following Michie's practice of providing slippers for visitors although the Turtle dirt trapper doormat is very good.  Knowing the cost we hope the new one will last as long.  Probably the people who buy the house in the future will hate it.
