Yorkshire visiting

Once a month Alistair and I drive over the Pennines to visit my mother in Leyburn and his younger sister Gill in Boston Spa.  This time Gill was spending some time in St. Gemma's Hospice in Leeds.  This looked a fairly new building and it had a beautiful peaceful garden full of whites, blues and purples.  Hopefully Gill will be going home next week when a special mattress designed to avoid pressure sores is delivered.   A month ago Gill was still walking and using a wheelchair but now she spends most of her time in bed.

My mother is approaching her 90th birthday but still manages to come out and about when we visit.  ( not sure if she really knows who I am most of the time)  This visit we had a trip out to Jervalulx Abbey tearooms where she enjoyed looking at the flowers for sale.  She always enjoyed gardening when she lived in her own home and this flower display was bright enough for her to see although her eyesight has deteriorated.  You can also see her new cropped hairstyle which I think is much nicer than an old lady permed style that many residential homes favour.
