In The Night Garden
Today was to be Marisa's first visit to live theatre. Two large inflatable domes had been erected in Liverpool's Sefton Park to host a touring production of "In the Night Garden". Marisa was very fond of this TV show when she was little so I thought it would be a good introduction as we would not have to explain the characters and she could follow the action. It was a dull, damp day but the excitement and noise of lots of happy little children made for a lively atmosphere. Mummy brought sweets for the journey and the queue and Grandpa bought a light wand for Marisa to wave.
The set, the actors and storyline were just right for the young audience and the special effects were very good.
After the show we found a restaurant for lunch and went back into Sefton Park. Marisa played in the children's playground and when she was tired the grown ups went to visit the famous restored Palm House.

Finally Grandpa thought we ought to end our day out with a visit to the seaside at West Kirby. Thinking the weather was going to be sunny he had packed a rug and bucket and spades.
The females in the party built a quick sandcastle on the windy and overcast beach before joining Grandpa who was watching the windsurfers. Then it was back to the car to get warm and drive back to Macclesfield.
