We thought a short blast of sun would be good so we found a late bargain in Los Gigantes on Tenerife. This was in Los Gigantes hotel in the centre of the resort but Alistair took his tennis raquet and walked up Cardiac Hill every morning to join his friends at Las Rosas where we stay in March. I was suffering with pain in my hip so I only walked up twice to join them for lunch. The food was excellent and tempted us to overeat. Unfortunately the pool was freezing so I only swam three times when really I needed to swim a distance like the English Channel to offset the food intake.
