Gingerbread men

I first made gingerbread men with Isabella when they lived in Paris.  Marisa loves baking and now understands there are stages to the process so I thought she was ready for gingerbread men.  I emailed Kate to send me the instructions from Bella's book of recipes. Then of course I had to buy some cutters.  Eventually everything was in place and off we went.................

As a baker with experience, mixing is no problem for her but the stage of resting in the fridge was new so we had time to put on a fairy dress and build a castle whilst we waited.

When the mix was ready Marisa said it was like play doh but I did point out that this would be different as we were going to be able to eat the results and you don't eat playdoh.

When the gingerbread shapes had been in the oven and cooled it was time to decorate.

After she had gone home clutching her box of shapes and chasting, " This one is is for mummy, this one is for daddy, this one is for Marisa" etc......then Nanna had a rest with a coffee and her own particular version of, "This one is for Nanna".
