Leyburn weekend

Nicholas, Michie and Marisa joined me on my visit up to Leyburn to see Mother.  It was to be an overnight stay so that they could see a bit of the area and meet up with cousin Sarah and Matthew who were escaping the heat of Oman.

Marisa was quite a hit in the lounge.

After this first visit of the weekend we took Marisa up to the local playpark which has quite a view over the dale..

Marisa enjoyed playing with daddy.
Then Marisa and Mummy sat on the poor man...............

Before we went out for our evening meal at "The Sandpiper", the best restaurant in Leyburn by far, there was time time to visit Aysgarth Falls.  Michie remarked that the water coming down looked like coffee.  I have seen the falls lots of times and know that much of the dales water drains through peat hence the brown colour.  Now I shall think of Michie's description when I see them in future.
On the Sunday morning Marisa and I were up early and paid Mother an early visit when she was still having her breakfast.  Nicholas and Michie arrived a bit later with a gingerbread man that Marisa had decorated for her Great grandma.  It was entertaining watching Marisa explaining to Mother how to open the package and how she had made it specially for her.

Before we went down to Burneston  for a pub lunch with Nancy, Sarah and Matthew we visited Bolton Castle and had a ride on the Dales Railway from Redmire to Bedale.  At least the three ladies did Nicholas got to drive down and meet us at the other end.

After lunch there was just time for Marisa and Matthew to play in the village park before we headed back to Macclesfield.

escaping from the troll...............

The sun was not much in evidence over the weekend but it did not rain and it was lovely not to drive there and back int one day.  Marisa was convinced this had been her holiday and is keen to repeat the experience.
