Gullivers World near Matlock Bath

Alistair thought a visit to Gulliver's World in Matlock Bath would be a good idea for a day out. Marisa was spending her days with us as Pre-school and Nursery were both closed for the last two weeks in August.  So as we had been to the seaside last week this was our next venture.  I am not a fan of theme parks and wondered if Marisa was a little young for such things but as it turned out she had a great time.

So did Alistair....we went to buy a drink and this is what he got up to....

Just arrived and exploring
The pictures above are the only two pictures from my camera as  I hadn't charged the battery so the remaining pictures are from my mobile phone.

One spot Marisa particularly liked was the cowboy town with little buildings just her size.  We practically had to drag her away to see what else was on offer.

Driving Miss Daisy?

Giddy up

Alistair was keen to take Marisa on the log flume.  I was not so sure but we took her to watch what happened and she decided, yes, she and Grandpa would go on the log flume together.

At the top ready to go
Holding on very tight on the way down

After the splash and enjoying the ride back

When the splash had subsided and Marisa spotted me taking photos she shouted indignantly that she had got wet.   Soon she will want to go on the ride for that very purpose.

After the excitement of the log flume we took the ski lift down to the more sedate Pirate water ride.

However I think Alistair was looking for more excitement as he kept twirling our boat round and round when Marisa and I were trying to spot the different pirates and mermaids.  Actually this ride was short in comparison to the time we spent waiting for a go.  To be fair this was the only long wait of the day.

The fireman ride was fun as the ladder went up and down and you had to fire water at the flames in the window.
Waiting to rise

Aiming the water

The princess ride was calmer but you can see the lovely setting of Gulliver's World on the hillside at Matlock.
We had time for a drive (well Marisa thought she was doing the driving) round the dinosaur exhibition before it was time to go home.
This may well become another annual summer holiday treat as we did not have time to go on everything that was available.  Driving out of the car park I asked Marisa if she would like an apple to eat but by the time I had got it out of the coolbox and turned to give to her she was fast asleep.
We just got home with minutes to spare before Michie arrived to take her home so we just transferred the still sleeping child into another car.

Then Nanna and Grandpa went in and poured two generous glasses of red wine!
