Magritte at the Tate, Liverpool

Today we decided a trip to see the Magritte Exhibition at the Tate in Liverpool would be a good idea and we could picnic at Crosby Beach and re-visit Antony Gormley's iron men before we went into Liverpool itself.

When we arrived it was high tide and most of the men were under water.

However the wind was so strong along the beach that we beat a hasty retreat back through the dunes to the car.  You can see my trousers flapping as I cling to the railings and have my face exfoliated with flying sand.

We found a place to park in the sun and eat our lunch before we went on into Liverpool.  The day continued to go well when TomTom failed just after directing us into a busy right hand lane fairly close to our destination!  One false turn in front of the Liver Building and then the next right turn brought us to the Albert Dock.

The exhibition was most enjoyable....I had not realized quite how recent Magritte had been (he only died in 1967).  Whilst we enjoyed looking at the pictures and reading the interpretations we decided there was not one we would wish to actually have at home.  Obviously we could not take pictures inside the exhibition so we stood next to the poster outside................
